Executive Committee


Dana Skallman
External Co-Chair

Dana Skallman is a Senior Personal Financial Analyst with Primerica Financial Services, a subsidiary of Citigroup. She's been working with Primerica for over two years and is passionate about helping people understand how money works and how to make money work for them. Her interest is primarily working with nonprofit organizations. Her professional experience falls within the arenas of: international development; non-governmental organizations; micro, medium and small-business; personal finance and information technology.

Dana's educational background includes: a Bachelor's degree in Marketing from St. Cloud State University, MN; an MBA from Instituto Tecnológico y de Estudios Superiores de Monterrey in Mexico and an MA in Critical Global Studies from the University of Exeter in the United Kingdom.



Sabrina Van Savage
Internal Co-Chair

Sabrina is currently the Finance & HR Manager of the Public Art Fund, where her responsibilities include overseeing the finance and administrative aspects of the entire organization. Prior to joining the Public Art Fund, she was worked at the Partnership for Innovative Practice as a graduate assistant while pursuing a Masters in Public Administration at New York University. Sabrina has also worked as a paralegal at an insurance litigation firm for two years.

Sabrina graduated with a BA Hons in Business, Economics & Organizational Studies from the University of Reading in the UK.


Claire Nakashima
Secretary


Claire currently works at the Liz Claiborne Foundation. She manages a portfolio of grants in Liz Claiborne Inc. operating communities, consults, trains and coordinates volunteer leaders on employee volunteer activities and m anages direct and corporate product donations.

Before joining Liz Claiborne, she worked in d evelopment at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, where she managed all financial and metric reporting activities for Major, Annual, Planned and Institutional giving. In addition, she prepared proposals, progress reports and budgets for various initiatives at the Center and tracked grant and donor migration.

Prior to joining MSK, she graduated from NYU with a BA in Economics. While at NYU, she began a chapter of Project Sunshine providing free social, educational and recreational activities to children and families living with medical challenges.



Trish Tchume
National Board Liaison

Trish Tchume serves as the New York City Liaison to the YNPN National Board and as the Community Outreach Manager for Action Without Borders/Idealist.org.  Prior to moving to New York City last July, Trish worked from Idealist's Philadelphia office where she also had the opportunity to serve as the Leadership Development Committee chair for YNPN affiliate, Philadelphia's Young Nonprofit Leaders (www.pynl.org).  During her time with PYNL, Trish experienced time and time again the impact that a small but creative and organized group of individuals can have on the personal and professional lives of emerging leaders in the nonprofit sector.
In her National Board Liaison role, she continues to enjoy the opportunity to help make an even broader impact by connecting the local NYC chapter to the national YNPN network.

George Paltakis
Technology Chair

George is currently working as a fundraiser at UNICEF but has worked for many years in the IT industry, including positions in New York with S&P (fixed income) and SchoolNet (database architect), in Miami with HOPS International (fraud detection in insurance medical claims) and Bentley's (webmaster) and in Orlando with Acusoft (software engineer for military virtual reality simulations)

George has an MS in International Relations from Florida International University, an MS in Computer Science from the University of Central Florida and a BS in Mathematics from Aristotle University

Jennifer Palmer
Membership Chair

Jennifer Palmer works in the Mayor's Office of the City of New York as the
Senior Legislative Representative.  In her current capacity, Jennifer
manages the legislative agendas for the City across a number of diverse
topic areas including Education, Housing, Public Housing, Youth Services and Consumer Affairs.   Prior to working in the Mayor?s Office, her professional experience included managing constituent relations for a City Agency, working at homeless shelters throughout the nation and providing case management and therapy for persons with HIV/AIDS. 

Jennifer is a LMSW with her Bachelor of Science in Social Work from Kansas State University, and her Master of Science in Social Work from Columbia University

Abby Rennert
Social Programs Chair

Abby currently works as an 8th grade literacy teacher at MS215/KAPPA. Prior to her current role, she worked on the staff of Teach For America and taught at MS143 through New York City Teaching Fellows.

Abby holds a BA in English from Vassar College and a MS in Education from Lehman College.





Ade Omotade
Professional Development Programs Co-Chair

Ade is currently a Grants and Fundraising Manager for CONNECT, a non profit dedicated to ending family and gender violence, through a holistic combination of prevention, education and early intervention programs. He currently manages the overall strategic planning and implementation of fundraising activities for the organization including special events, grants management and individual giving. He recently completed his Masters of Public Administration from the Baruch School of Public Affairs and is planning to pursue his Ph. D in Public Affairs. Ade received a B.A. in Communications and in Political Science from Queens College and a MPA from Baruch





Krista DeJoseph
Professional Development Programs Co-Chair

Krista is currently a full time student pursuing a Masters in Public Administration at Baruch College. She is also a Graduate Assistant at the college’s Office of Career Services.

Prior to returning to school, Krista spent three years at Dress for Success Worldwide where she managed the Manhattan branch and oversaw services for 3,000 NYC women annually.

Krista earned her B.A. in English from Fredonia College.

Sofia Eastman
At-Large Development Chair


After getting her BA in International Relations, Sofia has been working as an Office Manager for the Support Center for Nonprofit Managment.
Sofia has a strong interest in the nonprofit sector and has been active in her home country Ecuador working and fundraising on projects for women and children as well as participating in model UN. She is fluent in Spanish.
